Micro and Ultrastructure in the Classroom: Trained Science Education Partnership Award staff will come to your classroom to work with the teacher and students to make microscopic observations with light microscopes, florescence micoscopes and/or a portable scanning electron microscope (SEM) from University of Southern Maine of prepared samples or classroom samples (some limitations apply) related to the unit currently being studied in the classroom. Images can be captured and will be published on the project website for students to use as a resource. This works best with students familiar with the metric system and light microscopy. Reservations for school visits should be made at least three weeks in advance so that staff and teachers can share goals and plans for the classroom time.
